Decorated in bronze and marble, this building was named after Dr. Henry S. Plummer, who designed it and created systems and procedures still in use at the Mayo Clinic.
Continuing with the tradition that began in the 1950's, visitors can view more than 7,000 high efficiency LED lights, along the south facing wall of the Plummer Building on the Mayo Clinic campus each winter. Typically the illumination begins around Thanksgiving, and extends throughout New Years.
Touring the iconic Plummer Building is easy. Visitors can tour the Historical Suite that includes the last offices of Drs. William J. and Charles H. Mayo, on Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, and are located on the third floor of the Plummer Building.
