Pleased with our stay
Although some reviews I read made me concerned about the reservation I had made for us during my husband's recent Mayo appointments, we were totally satisfied with our King bed room on the 8th floor. Mattress and bed was comfy, sheets very nice. Bathroom clean and shower was fine. There was a small separate counter for coffeemaker, microwave near the bathroom as well as alcove for suitcase and hanging clothes. TV and WI-FI good. We did bring an extension cord for my husband's CPAP machine. We enjoyed the easy access to Mayo. Nice to be able to come and go and not wait for shuttle service. We parked in the Damon lot to save a few dollars on parking. It was easy to wheel our suitcases from the ramp through the clinic to the hotel. Oh, we ate in the cafe several times, good comfort food and the same delightful server each afternoon and evening. We also enjoyed a drink and snacks at Martini's, the bartender was very attentive and we enjoyed sitting out on the patio. The plaza area is a great place to walk and people watch and I enjoyed exploring nearby shopping opportunities. I also had a wonderful massage at a small spa in the subway. We found staff attentive and enjoyed talking to the manager who asked after our needs.

We have been staying at the Kahler Grand four times a year since 2013. We stayed in a newly renovated room this past week. I will start out by saying the renovation remodel is very nice. Although It is not completely finished yet. The room smells better, it had a new smell to it. More plug ins were put in, pillows and bed more comfortable. I feel like it lacks better lighting. My biggest complaint was the bathroom. You spent all that time and money renovating but the shower had the old bathroom fixtures left on it and the shower head wasn't raised up. It was made for like a 5 foot tall person. I didn't quite understand that. But, overall it was very nice!

I stayed at The Kahler Grand Hotel, when I was at The Mayo Clinic recently. I was very impressed with the cleanliness, the staff and the room service. But mostly what stood out was how quiet it was. You did not hear doors slamming, water running, conversations, etc.and the grand hotel had all the charm that one would expect fromThe Kahler.

I loved the Kahler Grand!!!
I was there for 30 days so I really got a good feel for it. If you like places that are charming with character, this is the hotel for you! It's not ultra modern like some hotels. It's more historical and rich. You are not a number there (unless you want to be) in that the staff treats you as a real person, unlike many of the chain hotels. The staff was phenomenal and worked hard to make sure our needs were being met. They seem to take a great deal of pride in their work. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming yet professional and respectful of my situation. No one asked me about my health condition, yet they were attentive and empathetic during times that I wanted to talk about it like Karen genuinely being excited with me, or David providing depth and insight when I needed it, and Shawn being patient when I was high strung and annoying! If you prefer to keep to yourself, your boundaries would always be respected, just like if you prefer to interact. I watched as the staff adapted to meet the individual needs of all of the guests. I'd also like to give a shout out to Bobby for keeping me stocked with towels and soap because he noticed that I hardly ever used Housekeeping in my rooms. Thirty days is a long time to be in a hotel and it provided me with unique insight in the various divisions within the hotel, from management styles to the end result which is providing their guests with the type of hotel experience that will meet their needs.
